Lake Powell, Labor Day Weekend (not the usual quiet trip) !

Our crazy gang!

Sunrise Saturday morning!

Jeff and I were able to steal away for one last 'no babies' weekend before summer comes to an end. We spent the long weekend in Lake Powell with several friends/couples. It started out with a real bang when we arrived at the dry docks to pick up Beau and Crystal's boat and it was no where to be found. Instead of pulling their big boat back and forth (about 3 hours each way), they leave their boat in dry storage and simply call 24 hours before they are ready to pick it up and the marina puts it out, when they're done for the weekend it goes back in it's spot until the next time, sounds good right? Well, this weekend was the exception. We arrived about 8:00, in a hurry because dusk is getting earlier and earlier (and it's always a race against daylight to get the boat on the water before dark) and low and behold, no boat! Beau called the managers or whoever and they showed up to help find it (hopefully)! Of course Crystal and I jumped to the worst conclusion 'what if someone stole our boat?' Luckily after 30-45 minutes of driving through millions of boats, they found it in the wrong slip. Either it was put back in the wrong spot last time or put out this time and put back for no apparent reason. Who knows, but thankfully we were able to 'boat' rather than swim around with our coolers on our backs all weekend, haha!

We met up with all the other boats/couples out in Bullfrog Bay and the night got a little worse as we had an un-invited visitor. This gets a little 'Jerry Springer-ish.' Some woman, probably a little more than drunk, maybe high on something, wondered onto our spot on the beach, stumbling, yelling and looking for her husband. At first she kinda led us to believe that he was partying with another group or something but then she went into hysterics that maybe he drowned or was lost. We got her somewhat calmed down and took her back to her camp because someone said they thought there were children at her camp site, sure enough there were 3 (all under the age of 12), great huh? This is where it gets crazy...the girls and guys from our group who took her back said after they got over there they see a guy (her husband) floating in the water behind their boat, don't worry though he was just fine and laughing that he played this joke on his wife for over an hour. Ugh! After listening to the situation turn to a domestic dispute we decided it was time to call the Ranger. Thankfully an hour and a half later (but not soon enough) the Rangers showed up and took the man and women into custody. Apparently there was an aunt who stayed with the kids (she must have been sober enough to do so).

And that's the end of the drama, YEAH!!!!!!!

We had a wonderful weekend in spite of the first few hours. We got some rain Saturday night and a little Sunday but Lake Powell has some great canyons to hide in out of the weather. Jeff and I water skiied, as you can see Jeff's pretty good, and by the lack of photos of myself, I'm just mediocre.

Oh, I almost forgot! Our guys ended up being quite the little dare-devils, unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me to catch the action. We went into the marina Sunday afternoon for ice etc. and we see this 'bmx' looking ramp on the end of the dock by the houseboat slips. Yes, you guessed it...some teenage boys had retro-fitted a little bmx bike with foam padding (so that it would float) after they jumped the ramp and did back flips into the water. It was cool! And of course, our guys had to try it. One of the guys with us hit the water a little hard and got a little bloody lip but other than that, everyone else just got an adrenaline rush!

Wow, after reading over this blog, it sounds like we are quite crazy! I'd like to think of it as just 'creating memories.'

Until next time! Cheers!
